There’s Always Something Going On

VOLUNTEER

AT THE LAZARUS PROJECT

The Lazarus Project, located at 664 South Main Street, supports and serves our community, specifically those in need. The project began with a mission to provide gently used furniture to those in need in Emanuel and surrounding counties. Slightly-used furniture and other basic household items are collected and given to families who have experienced fire, domestic abuse, homelessness or limited income. Beds, furniture, and appliances are items that many take for granted each day. But those in a personal crisis appreciate each and every donation. With a spirit of compassion, concern and connection, each person is treated graciously, with Christian hospitality. Through this project we offer hope to those in our community who feel hopeless.

In 2023, The Lazarus Project added a food pantry as an ongoing outreach to our community. Food insecurity is high in our area. According to Feeding America, about 18% of Emanuel County's residents experience food insecurity. We desire to serve the people in the community by providing a foodbank that will regularly create more equitable access to food. We are dedicated to relieving hunger through the mobilization of resources and community involvement. We can improve the health and well-being of our community through access to healthy and nutritious foods, again, offering hope to those who feel hopeless.

Volunteers are needed. Beacon of Hope Church of God and the Methodist Men of Swainsboro First Methodist Church joined together to create The Lazarus Project. But we are not alone in our efforts. Others have joined us. We hope to engage partners from the community that will regularly volunteer. Those in our local schools, churches, and civic groups will unite as a community to improve the quality of life for all. Take advantage of the opportunity to volunteer.

TEEN BIBLE STUDY

Wednesday Nights at 7 PM

Our Wednesday night Bible studies are geared toward teenagers.

They are taught on their level. However, all adults join together in these lessons so we can encourage and disciple the next generation of  strong Christians. Together we will lead a generation of influencers into their Kingdom calling. (Don't worry, you will learn something too.)

WOMEN'S DISCIPLESHIP

1ST & 3RD Tuesday of the month

Women’s Discipleship exists as an avenue to empower women for Christian service. Dedicated women are making a significant difference by devoting their time, talents and financial resources to accomplish ministry. To help achieve these ministry objectives, we want to provide an atmosphere where women can:

*Mature Spiritually
*Develop their ministry and leadership gifts
*Promote personal daily devotions, prayer and Word.
*Contribute to the welfare of home, church, community & world.
*Support Benevolence and mission projects

MEN'S DISCIPLESHIP

1ST Thursday of the month

We create an environment in which men are developed to serve as servant-leaders. We equip, empower and release these leaders to serve in ministry in their homes, inside the church and in the community.
